The ship's name, Charlemagne, is that of a King of the Franks and first Holy Roman Emperor, also known as Charles I, who united a large part of Western Europe in the early Middle Ages and is a major figure in the Matter of France.
The Charlemagne's deck is about 170m long.
The Charlemagne carries a small number of aircraft onboard, which can be dispatched if the situation requires, however they are mostly outdated. The aircraft carrier's primary role, with the role of air supremacy having shifted to the laser-wielding Objects, is no longer to quickly get aircraft to the battlefield, but instead to resupply Objects at sea and defend it during resupply. The ship also carries out the role of an assault landing craft, holding and protecting the equipment required to create a base, approaching the coast and quickly deploying it on shore.
The ship's short runway is allowed for by the development and use of high-precision sensors and reverse firing nozzles on aircraft.
An Audition WarEdit
The Charlemagne assisted the Baby Magnum and the 37th Mobile Maintenance Battalion during its landing and operation against the Mass Driver Conglomerate in the Iguazu District. Around the same time, the ship's crew were celebrating the 15th anniversary of the ship's commissioning, with members of the 37th joining in the party. During landing, the Charlemagne provided reports and information to the 37th as they came under fire from railguns placed on the mountain. After observing the Lisolette destroying the Bright Hopper from afar, it provided key information about the Object's weapon to Quenser and Froleytia.
